1. What prompted you to start Hamari Suraksha? Or the idea behind launching it? 

Back in USA, there was nothing much I could do about the safety of my mother in India. I would hear news about thefts, elderly people getting murdered and other horrific news from India. I found similar concerns with my other USA based Indian friends. This feeling of helplessness took my attention to the problem of safety and security in my motherland which led me to develop this software. 

2. Your background?

I have spent over 25 years in IT/ ITES and have managed several business enterprises. I am the Founder President of PeoplePlus Software Inc., a software development company based in Ann Arbor, MI, USA. A co-founder Megasys Software Services Inc., and founder of NetXert Inc., IT consulting firms that were later merged with large IT firms in USA. As a part of the core team, I have been instrumental to build the Indo American Chamber of Commerce in Michigan, USA from virtually no member to over 100 corporate members. Prior to this, I worked with several large IT companies in India and in USA.

5. Are there any other portals offering the same kind of services?

No, there are no such web portals in India. We are the only one. 

6. How does the registration and verification process take place? Please explain in detail

We provide services at multi-level; our collaboration tool thus allows multiple users to work on the same platform and share information. The process is initiated by registration of individual’s personal details. The other details include information like family details, birth place/origin, identification documents, address proof, photographs, biometric information, employment & education details.

Cross verification for data consistency of the collected information is the next step; This includes address, criminal/court records check, drug test, credit checks, academic qualification, professional references and employment history check etc. 

Based on the verified information, the companies, their clients, individuals can make their decisions and take appropriate action.

Q.) Do you think this joint launch has made any difference in Gurgaon or people are benefited from it?

A.) Absolutely "Yes", the joint launch has been very successful in creating an awareness among the residents, RWA's, businesses and they have been responding positively to this campaign and have been taking advantage of this drive to register their domestic helps.   

Q.) The rise in crimes by domestic help has increased like the Eldeco Mansion case, how would Hamari Suraksha provide aide in such instances?

A.) HS have been advising  all residents/RWAs to register their domestic help, drivers, security guards, delivery boys, hawkers etc.  The personal details and biometric information  of an  individual worker is available online  and it is  shared with the local police for further verification and tracking. The HS online system also helps the residents to maintain the background or   report incidents (in case of any theft/crime).  The process of registration and sharing of information with Police and among residents ensures that the area is very safe and the domestic helps with right credentials are working in the area.  The domestic helps are also aware that their profiles have  been shared with the local police and they will be caught in no time if they involve themselves in any illegal activity

Q.) Do you think police is actively working on the verification of domestic help?

A.) Yes, the local police has initiated several drives and have been actively involved in the process, HS team have been submitting the information to local police and provides online access so the Police can  check the information on domestic helps and tenants.   

Q.) What are the advantages residents of a particular locality would get from registering their domestic help?

A.)  

• The HS services to residents, local business, RWA's  helps immensely, specially, the employers registers these workers at their work locations
• The complete profile of a person including their picture, biometric, references, education etc., is captured and shared with the local police, Govt agencies, RWA's  etc.       
• Collected data ensures that the local police can conduct random verification, spot checks and send this information to districts for further verification of these individuals

Q.) After registering the domestic help, does Hamari Suraksha take responsibility for their verification with the police?

A.) The HS has pioneered this process of sharing the information of registered workers among residents, business and the police.  The system allows the employers to maintain the background of these individuals.  HS shares this information with the Police and HS do not take the responsibility for the verification with the police.   

However, additional services are available for detailed verification and we encourage the residents to use such services 

Q.) What are the various agencies or people where registration has been conducted by Hamari Suraksha and plan to do in the future?

A.) The Hamari S has been sharing this information with the Police all over the places.  HS has been very active in Gurgaon, Noida, Faridabad, Delhi.  There are number of employers including businesses have been using their services across India HS is planning to launch these services nationwide

Q.) Why do you think majority of the people do not come forward during such drives? How effective is the resident’s welfare associations (RWAs) contribution during such a drive?

A.) Lack of awareness and time, simply being lazy, home owners do not want to go to Police Station  due to one reason or the other, and  the domestic helps do not want to register themselves with the Police, Home owners fearing that the domestic help will leave, some time the domestic help do not have identity documents

With the joint drives with the Police, similar community awareness drives and certain gruesome incidents in the area ensures the need  to register the domestic helps, tenants etc.. The RWA's when approached are taking initiatives to ensure HS process are implemented, but we need more co-operation from Residents.

We appeal to the residents that even if the domestic help do not have any identity documents, do register them, the HS process ensures that the Picture and biometric information, details of references will help Police in the this process.
